Global Fellows in Courage (GFiC) is a 6-month accelerator program (via Zoom) designed for social entrepreneurs aged 25-35 who are working to advocate for human rights and gender justice. The mission of the fellowship program is to help emerging leaders drive bold and courageous social change, improve their effectiveness, and advance their missions throughout the world.

Concepts

Fellows gain access to an online curriculum and meet twice monthly via Zoom.

Fellows gain access to a global community of human rights leaders. They remain engaged as alumni of both GFiC and the Brown University’s Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies.

Fellows gain access to GFiC’s global network of experts who support the advancement of their mission and impact.

GFIC Stipend

Each Fellow will receive a $2,500 stipend upon successful completion of the program, acknowledging their dedication, active participation, and commitment to the fellowship.

GFiC Grant Program

Upon Successful completion, Fellows are eligible to apply for up to $10,000 to support progress on their projects.

Certificate

Fellows receive a certificate of completion from GFiC and Brown University Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies.

Candidate Profile

The program is designed for emerging leaders (target age 25 to 35) who have demonstrated leadership experience and extraordinary potential. Ideal candidates have already made an impact in human rights advocacy through entrepreneurship, showcasing a strong track record of success and the potential to achieve much more. A strong command of English language is required.  We will recruit 45 Fellows in 2025.

Requirements:

  • Applicants are between the ages of 25 and 35, with exceptions possible.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in human rights advocacy, activism, community organizing, or social entrepreneurship.
  • Demonstrated engagement in Gender Justice or related areas.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.

Program Expectatations

Applicants should have sufficient control of their time/schedule, being able to commit to program expectations. Failure to meet program commitments may result in ineligibility for the grant program.

GFiC Fellows are expected to:

Attend Synchronous Sessions

Two 3-hour Zoom sessions per month, engaging in discussions, skill-building, and real-world applications.

Complete all pre-work

Including videos, reading and short assignments. Up to 4-6 hours per month.

Work on a Project

Make progress on a project throughout the course of the program and pitch the project during the final cohort session.

Access Coaching

Participate in group coaching sessions and meet with your individual coach at least twice monthly.

The African Economic Scholars Program (AESP) is an initiative tailored towards building the next generation of policy makers in Africa through exposing them to avid tools and training.   Our Scholars consist of highly skilled undergraduates who are either in their penultimate or final year studying towards a degree in Economics, political Science, International Relations and other related courses. These individuals possess a broad range of abilities and have proven their excellence in academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and professional endeavors.  The Scholars program will enable them to gain a thorough understanding of the place of policy makers and the importance of developing wholly. 

The program will train the scholars for two months on research, policy making, personal and professional development and an opportunity to publish their capstone project. At the end of the training, outstanding scholars may be placed on a 2 months internship with our partner firms (Think Tanks) where they will gain practical insights on policy making and advocacy.

CorpsAfrica recruits and places ambitious young Africans in rural, underserved communities in their own countries to apply their education, build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and venture beyond their comfort zones to learn about their countries and about themselves. They facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members, to fulfill key needs and whose impact and success can be carefully measured.

CorpsAfrica Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and education including agriculture, gender, health, education, water and sanitation, environment, business, engineering, peace studies, language studies, as well as many others. All Volunteers must have a college degree or equivalent experience, and most Volunteers join CorpsAfrica with experience in the social sector and designing, implementing and monitoring projects.

The additional (and essential) skills that Volunteers need for their service–including community integration, proposal development, and project design and management–are taught as part of CorpsAfrica’s expert training program.

Program Details and Application Processes

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme brings together young people from all over the world to better understand global justice issues and deepen their understanding of Global Citizenship.

This programme will guide young, motivated changemakers to learn about the growing crises facing our world with a focus on climate and health systems.

Participants will then work together to imagine solutions for the future by creating awareness-raising materials that will feed into GOAL’s public engagement activities.

When will it take place?

The 2025 Programme will consist of 10 sessions that take place online, with 2 sessions in-person for Irish based participants.

In order to ensure participation of this global cohort, sessions will take place on Thursdays at 3pm Irish Time (8am Honduras, 2pm Sierra Leone, 4pm Zimbabwe, 5pm Ethiopia & Uganda).

What will I learn?

Over these 10 sessions, participants will work with peers globally to develop skills in critical thinking, intercultural communication, project management, teamwork, and the fundamentals of organising and implementing public awareness campaigns.

By taking part you will be empowered to:

  • Understand the diverse and interconnected nature of our world.
  • Critically interrogate the systems that perpetuate inequalities.
  • Reflect upon your own role and the role of others in tackling local and global challenges.
  • Engage in dialogue with others in a spirit of empathy, inclusivity, solidarity and collaboration.
  • Develop the courage, confidence and resilience to speak out for change.
  • Understand the GOAL’s work and have the opportunity to connect with GOAL staff.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Current resident of Ireland, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Syria, Turkey, Uganda, or Zimbabwe.
  • Comfortably fluent in English.
  • Between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Available for 10 seminars between May and July. Sessions will fall on Thursdays and Saturdays (see timeline for actual dates).
  • Be open and willing to engage in teamwork in between seminars.
  • Demonstrate basic/emerging understanding of local and global issues.
  • Show clear initiative and desire to be a part of positive change (this could be demonstrated through volunteering, participation in local events, workshop facilitation, tutoring, creative extra-curricular activities, etc.).
  • Interest in participating in artistic methods of learning (this could be demonstrated through a passion for drama, art, creative writing, journalism, music or any other artistic discipline).
  • Reliable access to a “device” and internet is desired but not essential. If you do not have access to a device, please let us know in your application, and we will endeavour to support your participation.

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Diversity and Inclusion

Role Description

The UNICEF USA National Youth Council is a group of young leaders ages 14-24 who work closely with UNICEF staff, to elevate the voices and perspectives of young people and advance child rights at nationally. In this role, members support the club and volunteer network, advocate for policy change, and bring youth voices into spaces where they are typically excluded. The Council also works internally with staff and leadership to bring youth voice to UUSA’s culture, strategy and operations

Key Responsibilities

Elevating the voice of the youth: Council Members are called upon throughout the year to represent UNICEF USA and elevate youth voices and perspectives by speaking at events and meetings locally and nationally.

Supporting Youth and Volunteer Programs: Council members provide feedback and insight on current trends in engaging young people in social justice work. Partnering with staff and UUSA leadership, Council members will inform strategic initiatives and campaigns.

Education and Motivation: Lead issue-specific projects to educate and inform youth, volunteers and staff on topics important to young people and UNICEF’s work. Amplify youth voice through media and write thought pieces on issues relevant to youth.

Building Community:  Build relationships with each other, the Youth Representatives, UNICEF Clubs, support the management of the Slack community, and host digital conversations with students.

Commitment:

  1. Commit to serve a one-year term from August 1, 2025 to May 29, 2026.
  2. Council members that are interested in serving more than one term are highly encouraged to re-apply.
  3. Spend between 3-5 hours per week working on Council related projects, meetings, trainings and activities.
  4. Spearhead youth engagement initiatives, and thrive working on well-organized and self-motivated teams.
  5. Attendance is required for weekly meetings happening on Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30PM EST
