Other former interns are in law school and some are pursuing graduate degrees in public policy, public administration, and economics. 

Program Details and Application Processes

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme brings together young people from all over the world to better understand global justice issues and deepen their understanding of Global Citizenship.

This programme will guide young, motivated changemakers to learn about the growing crises facing our world with a focus on climate and health systems.

Participants will then work together to imagine solutions for the future by creating awareness-raising materials that will feed into GOAL’s public engagement activities.

When will it take place?

The 2025 Programme will consist of 10 sessions that take place online, with 2 sessions in-person for Irish based participants.

In order to ensure participation of this global cohort, sessions will take place on Thursdays at 3pm Irish Time (8am Honduras, 2pm Sierra Leone, 4pm Zimbabwe, 5pm Ethiopia & Uganda).

What will I learn?

Over these 10 sessions, participants will work with peers globally to develop skills in critical thinking, intercultural communication, project management, teamwork, and the fundamentals of organising and implementing public awareness campaigns.

By taking part you will be empowered to:

  • Understand the diverse and interconnected nature of our world.
  • Critically interrogate the systems that perpetuate inequalities.
  • Reflect upon your own role and the role of others in tackling local and global challenges.
  • Engage in dialogue with others in a spirit of empathy, inclusivity, solidarity and collaboration.
  • Develop the courage, confidence and resilience to speak out for change.
  • Understand the GOAL’s work and have the opportunity to connect with GOAL staff.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Current resident of Ireland, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Syria, Turkey, Uganda, or Zimbabwe.
  • Comfortably fluent in English.
  • Between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Available for 10 seminars between May and July. Sessions will fall on Thursdays and Saturdays (see timeline for actual dates).
  • Be open and willing to engage in teamwork in between seminars.
  • Demonstrate basic/emerging understanding of local and global issues.
  • Show clear initiative and desire to be a part of positive change (this could be demonstrated through volunteering, participation in local events, workshop facilitation, tutoring, creative extra-curricular activities, etc.).
  • Interest in participating in artistic methods of learning (this could be demonstrated through a passion for drama, art, creative writing, journalism, music or any other artistic discipline).
  • Reliable access to a “device” and internet is desired but not essential. If you do not have access to a device, please let us know in your application, and we will endeavour to support your participation.

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Diversity and Inclusion

Greentech Africa 2025: The Future of Sustainability is an investment-readiness accelerator program that will support 10-15 startups in Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa with innovative solutions for sustainable development.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Have legal incorporation and operations as a for-profit entity in at least one of these countries: Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, or South Africa. 
  • Have a market-based tech solution that tackles the above-listed challenges. 
  • Be in compliance with local fiscal and business law.
  • Have at least one full-time founder based in Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, or South Africa.

The JC Lab in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking a highly motivated domestic Master’s student to join our research team in Fall 2025 as a Graduate Research Assistant! This position offers hands-on research experience in swine nutrition, gut health, gut histology, and gut microbiome.


Position Details:
• Title: Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)

The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme (GCYLP) is an exciting programme to engage, empower, and inspire young digital leaders and changemakers. GCYLP is supporting young visionaries from around the world who propose creative, far-reaching, innovative, and feasible community-driven projects aimed at creating a more inclusive and empowered digital future.

ITU in partnership with Huawei, is providing guidance, training, and financial support to 30 young fellows per year to enable them to practically implement digital development projects in their diverse communities across the world.   • Are you currently enrolled or recently graduated from a tertiary education institution from a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or a demonstrably STEM-related academic programme?

What will you get?

  • Virtual mentorship and leadership training sessions from ITU and Huawei.
  • Participation in an in-person global Development Week in Geneva Switzerland in July 2025.
  • Up to $10,000 USD grant to implement a digital development project of your choice. All 30 selected fellows will receive an initial $5000 USD grant towards the implementation of a digital development project of their choice. The most impactful projects at the end of the year will receive an extra $5000 USD grant to scale up.

The Australian Government Scholarship is a long-term award offered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They are geared towards addressing the developmental needs of partner countries. They provide opportunities for citizens of these countries to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. These opportunities help promote skills development and knowledge acquisition to help contribute to development in their home countries.

Benefits of the scholarship:

The Scholarships is offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian higher education institution, including any preparatory training. The scholarship offers the following benefits:

  1. Full tuition fees
  2. Return air travel – payment of a single return, economy class airfare to and from Australia, via the most direct route
  3. Establishment allowance – a once only payment as a contribution towards accommodation expenses, text books, study materials
  4. Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE) – a fortnightly contribution to basic living expenses paid at a rate determined by the department.
  5. Introductory Academic Program (IAP)–a compulsory program prior to the commencement of formal academic studies covering information on living and studying in Australia
  6. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award (for award holder only)–provided to cover the scholar’s basic medical costs (with the exception of pre-existing conditions)
  7. Pre-course English (PCE) fees – if deemed necessary PCE may be available for students for in-country and/or in-Australia training

Program Objective
