Graduate Research Assistant – Master’s Student Position (Fall 2025) at Texas Tech University

The JC Lab in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University is seeking a highly motivated domestic Master’s student to join our research team in Fall 2025 as a Graduate Research Assistant! This position offers hands-on research experience in swine nutrition, gut health, gut histology, and gut microbiome.


Position Details:
• Title: Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)
• Opportunities: Conference presentations, writing manuscripts, and gaining extensive research experience
Research Focus:
• Exploring gut health and microbiome interactions in swine
• Using omics and molecular techniques to interpret physiological differences
Responsibilities:
• Conduct animal trials and collect biological samples
• Perform laboratory analyses related to gut health and microbiome
• Maintain research records and contribute to data analysis
• Assist with manuscript preparation and conference presentations


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, or a related field
• Interest in swine nutrition and gut health research
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to work with swine and laboratory samples
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to follow research protocols
